Saxophonist Alexey Kruglov, Leo Records’ latest hearthrob (said with the best of intentions), is back now with a heated concert alongside the Jaak Sooaar Trio (Sooaar on electric guitar, Mikhel Malgand on doublebass, Tanel Ruben on drums). A powerful set of free jazz peppered with Russian traditional and even popular elements. Kruglov takes out, once more, his composition “The Ascent” for the best performance of this cut yet. And the guitarist’s “Karate” is driving rock number lead by a scorching sax head.
